Ciao! My name is Suzana and I was born in Zagabria (Croatia), where I studied Italian language and I specialized in the teaching of Italian as a foreign language (L2), especially for English and Slavic speakers. Following my BA (Laurea), I attended two Italian teaching courses, one at the University of Perugia and the other at Fondazione Cini in Venice. Even though my mother tongue is Croatian, I possess mother tongue fluency in Italian, which I taught at three high schools in Croatia, as well as at the University of Zagabria. Following this experience, I moved to Bari (Puglia) where I continued to teach both at the university level and privately. Since 2007, I work as a professor at the University L’ Orientale in Naples, Italy. I am very passionate about languages and I enjoy teaching them to individuals and small groups, with whom I use a personalized and alternative method of instruction.
Ciao! My name is Ivana and I am a teacher of Italian as a Second Language. After my BA in Foreign Languages (I speak English, French and Spanish), I earned the DITALS certificate, which provided me with a specialization in teaching Italian to foreigners. I’m currently teaching in the Italian public school and collaborating with different Italian language teaching organizations in Italy. Since 2016, I also began working as an educator to train Italian teachers, both in the public and private sector. In my lessons I use the communicative approach, which is based on real-life situations. When I teach, my topics are always different and interesting. It’s really difficult for one of my students to get bored! In addition to my job (that I love!), I am passionate about traveling, cooking, reading novels, and belly dancing.
Ciao! My name is Dessi and I Iive in Chicago. I have my bachelor’s degree in elementary education (Northeastern Illinois University) but I am passionate about teaching all ages! I most recently taught English to children in Tuscany, Italy (Bell Beyond), while the year before that I taught in schools in northern France (TAPIF). Although I am a native English speaker, I am also fluent in French, Italian, and Bulgarian. I currently teach Italian to children on Saturdays at the Language Academy, located in Park Ridge, IL, and I also am a French/Italian tutor at Northeastern Illinois University. When I’m not working or studying some new language (there can never be too many), I enjoy spending my time hiking, painting with my watercolors, and playing my ukulele.

Learning Italian can vary in difficulty depending on your background. If you are a speaker of a Romance language like Spanish or French, you may find it easier. For English speakers, learning Italian for the first time might be somewhat challenging but definitely not impossible.
The key is to start with a tailored approach, and our Online Italian Classes for Beginners are both accessible and effective because they focus on gradual progression and building a strong foundation. With dedicated instructors, you’ll find that the first steps in your Italian language journey are not only manageable but also incredibly rewarding.
At The Languages Corner, our teachers are not only 100% native speakers, but they also possess the qualifications and experience necessary to effectively instruct adults, teenagers, and lifelong learners. Our educators have a rich background in teaching languages, having worked in esteemed institutions such as schools, universities, and private settings. We take pride in identifying exceptionally talented instructors and bringing them on board to deliver high-quality online language education.
The time required varies depending on your goals and the level you wish to achieve. Here’s a breakdown of the approximate hours needed for each level (for more information, please refer to our CEFR document):
A1 Breakthrough or beginner | From absolute beginners to A1 | Approx. 45-80 hours |
A2 Waystage or elementary | From A1 to A2 | Approx. 80-120 hours |
B1 Threshold or intermediate | From A2 to B1 | Approx. 160-200 hours |
B2 Vantage or upper intermediate | From B1 to B2 | Approx. 240-280 hours |
C1 Effective Operational Proficiency or advanced | Approx. 400 – 500 hours | |
C2 Mastery or Proficiency |
You don’t have to focus on the quantity, but rather on the level you want to achieve. To reach conversational Italian, you can stop at the A2 level.
The pace of your Italian language learning journey is influenced by multiple factors, such as your motivation and the amount of time you commit. To achieve rapid progress, we suggest the following:
We offer both intermediate and advanced courses. These can be taken as private online Italian classes or as part of our public online Italian group classes, which are offered two to three times a year. For more information, please contact us at valeria@thelanguagescorner.com valeria@thelanguagescorner.com
We offer three main types of courses:
The pricing structure is flexible and tailored to suit your lesson preferences and frequency. For instance, private lessons begin at just $27 per hour, while private group classes cost $21 per person per hour. If you opt for our public group courses, they typically average around $220 for a set of 10 lessons.
When you begin your lessons, we determine the number of lesson days within a given month. For instance, if you choose to attend lessons once a week on Wednesdays and there happen to be 4 Wednesdays in a month, the calculation is as follows: $31 per lesson x 4 lessons, resulting in a total of $124. Essentially, our pricing is calculated based on the number of lesson days. If you choose to purchase lessons for more than one consecutive month, a discount will be applied to the total cost.
Additionally, it’s important to note that we only bill you for the lessons you take. For example, if you know in advance that you won’t be available on one of the lesson days and you provide your teacher with at least 24 hour notice, you can reschedule the missed lesson at no extra cost, ensuring that you receive the full value of your investment.
In cases where a student wishes to purchase an entire level of Italian, we calculate the overall cost and offer a discounted rate. Furthermore, we provide the option to divide the payment into smaller, manageable installments for your convenience.
We accept payments in USD, Euros, GBP, NOK, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, and Swiss Francs through credit cards, PayPal, or Wise. For U.S. military personnel, payments through Navy Federal are also available.
